Table Tennis School Program Proposal
My proposal has two primary goals.
Introducing an accessible sport to build confidence and participation.
This initiative aims to introduce school-aged children to table tennis—an easily accessible sport that fosters confidence and encourages lifelong participation in physical activities, including other racquet sports. Table tennis offers students a quick path to improvement, giving them a rewarding sense of progress and motivating them to continue playing.
Expanding opportunities for girls in sports.
A key focus of this program is to create more opportunities for girls to engage in sports. Through my years of coaching, I’ve observed that many young women hesitate to take up racquet sports due to self-consciousness or fear of appearing inexperienced. This hesitation can become a major barrier to participation. By introducing table tennis in a supportive school environment, we can help girls develop confidence, enjoy learning new skills, and feel empowered to play and compete alongside both boys and girls.
Program Launch Plan
To begin, I propose launching this initiative at two schools. Each school would receive the necessary equipment—including tables—and basic instruction for both students and staff. This approach would allow the program to become self-sustaining and easily integrated into the schools’ ongoing physical education activities.
Step 1 Equipment Setup
We’ll supply quality tables and turnkey setup to schools.
Staff Training
Training PE teachers to run engaging table tennis lessons.
School Integration
Integrating table tennis into physical education activities.
Partner Schools
New Field Elementary School and Jordan Community Schools are both Rogers Park Schools. These locations provide the ideal environment to launch and refine the program, ensuring accessibility and strong community engagement from the start.
